A Little Journey is a year-round licensed childcare provider and Montessori-based early learning center serving children 6 weeks to five years old.
The school’s curriculum is rooted in the foundational principles of the Montessori method, including child-led exploration, prepared learning environments, hands-on materials, and respect for each child’s individual developmental pace.
Our teachers embrace a flexible approach that empowers them to respond individually to each child in their care. This balance allows the program to preserve the heart of Montessori philosophy while giving educators the professional freedom to incorporate complementary strategies that best serve children across this wide and formative developmental window.

Our Daily Rhythm
Morning Greetings & Lesson Time
Children are greeted by their teachers, change into cozy school slippers, and ease into their morning independent work period. They engage with Montessori materials at their own pace, choosing lessons from our low wooden shelves. Children are invited to work under the guidance of a trained lead teacher, following a sequential order of learning across the avenues of Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural Studies.
Snack & Group Circle
Children enjoy a morning snack, typically consisting of fresh fruit and milk or water. They practice table manners and pouring their own drinks with child-sized pitchers and cups. We then gather for a Group Circle, which includes reviewing the calendar and days of the week, colors and numbers, songs and fingerplays. We also explore a topic that rotates every two weeks. Dinosaurs, Solar Systems, Grace & Courtesy, and Nutrition are a few favorite topics!
Outdoor Time
We head outside to our expansive, fenced-in play yard for time to climb, swing, run, jump & play.
Lunch & Rest
We eat together and then take a cozy rest period.
Movement & Goodbyes
After our rest period, children finish the day outside with time to play and connect. If the weather or air quality is extreme, we offer gross motor enrichment through indoor play with balance beams, blocks, dance parties, yoga, or engaging station activities until it is time to head home for the day.
